Green Street Shooting Victim is identified as Kentrell Settles

On Monday, October 20, the public was informed that athlete Kentrell "Trell" Settles, age 21, had been shot to death during what authorities claimed was a furious altercation.

Gunfire broke out after what began as a single honk at a red signal turned green. The driver in front of Trell reportedly refused to move on Friday afternoon when he was seated at a light close to 38th and Georgetown.

Deborah Benefiel, 23, reportedly became upset after honking and driving around the car. She followed him, yelled at him, and then fired one deadly shot into his gold Chevy Malibu, according to the police.

Benefiel's bullet entered Trell's body through his rear window, passed through his heart and lung, and then lodged in his chest.

Detectives were told by his girlfriend, who was sitting in the passenger seat, that she climbed into his lap and drove the car half a mile to Donald Avenue in an attempt to save his life, but she was unsuccessful. At Eskenazi Hospital, Trell was declared dead a few moments later.

Trell had a whole life ahead of him, but a simple anger management problems have caused everything to end abruptly.

Benefiel is currently being charged with murder and criminal carelessness. This episode calls into question the city's current mood and level of rage.

Investigation is ongoing as more details are

 still coming out.
