Wes Rucker WBIR, Journalist dies in car accident - New Update

Wes Rucker, a WBIR journalist, died on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after a multi-vehicle collision. He was a well-liked journalist and on-air personality at WBIR Channel 10, and the Knoxville community and local media business are in mourning over his untimely death.


At around 4:55 p.m. on Thursday, a multi-vehicle collision occurred at I-40 West close to Cedar Bluff Road, resulting in Rucker's death and multiple injuries.

According to the Knoxville Police Department, the crash happened when a car was stopped for traffic then got rear-ended by another car, causing minor damage.

The second car was then hit by another, starting a domino effect. A few seconds later, a big pickup truck struck and landed on top of a car, killing the adult male driver of the car it struck.

Official information are still pending as part of routine procedures, however authorities are still looking into the circumstances behind the disaster.
