Jimmy Gracey, University of Alabama Student Missing Shoko, Barcelona

Twenty-year-old James Paul "Jimmy" Gracey, a student at the University of Alabama at Elmhurst, Illinois, is reported missing in Barcelona, Spain. While on a spring break excursion with his companions, he was reported missing.

Therese Gracey, Jimmy's mother, claims that a friend last saw him on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at three in the morning, leaving the Shôko nightclub in the Platja de la Barceloneta neighborhood. Jimmy was dressed in a white T-shirt, dark jeans, and a gold necklace with a rhinestone cross.

He weighs 175 pounds, is about 6'1", and has dark, wavy hair.

Authorities found his phone, but he never went back to his Airbnb. Police have his phone, according to his mother's social media post, though it's unclear how they got it.

According to Cavin McLay, president of Theta Chi, members have been contacting members of the U.S. Senate and a White House representative in an effort to increase awareness.

The University of Alabama confirmed in a statement to ABC 33/40: "James Paul Gracey is a UA student on a personal trip." The family and anyone connected to them are contacted by UA personnel in order to provide support and help in any manner they can.

Make sure you call 1-224-505-3886 and provide your information if you have any.

The family is being contacted by the authorities, who will offer updates as soon as they are verified.
