Following what investigators describe as an apparent suicide, a male cook at Olive Garden in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, died from serious burns after taking off his clothes and submerging his head in a blazing hot deep fryer within the restaurant's cooking area.
Emergency personnel, according to the police, arrived at the location following reports. First responders made an effort, but the worker was declared dead. It was an attempt to wrap up his story, according to a Pennsylvania state trooper.
Witnesses said that three of his coworkers who were present at the time made a desperate attempt to stop him but were unsuccessful.
On January 30, 2026, a Friday, the catastrophe occurred.
Since the inquiry is still underway, the identity of the male cook has not yet been revealed.
In a statement, Olive Garden's parent company claimed they are completely cooperating with police and offered their condolences to the family and staff.
