Missing Counsins, Tramaine Pruitt and Jarad Pruitt found dead after car accident

The bodies of the two cousins who disappeared on February 1, 2026, at around two in the morning after departing the Sands of Sahara Lounge in Birmingham, Alabama, have been found.

They were recognized by the Jefferson County Coroner's Office as Birmingham residents Jarad Jawan Pruitt, 29, and Tramaine Quintell Pruitt, 45.

Authorities announced Sunday, February 1 that they died after a deadly and fiery accident, leaving friends, family, and the community in shock from their unexpected loss.

Just before three in the morning on Sunday, the car they were in collided head-on with an eighteen-wheeler on Interstate 22 West around mile marker 91 in Brookside, roughly twenty-one minutes from the lounge.

Because of the massive head-on collision and thermal damage at the scene, first responders initially thought Jarad was the sole person inside the demolished F250. However, the coroner's office reported that more investigation into the wrecked truck led to the finding of the second occupant's remains.

Concern over their disappearance following the collision prompted family members to look for them both. Little did they know that they had been in a terrible car accident.

The cause of the car crash is still being investigated. Their family is looking for information about the vehicle crash and is asking the public for assistance.
