Sharon Maccanico, 15-year-old missing in Mt Maunganui landslides found dead




Authorities revealed on Friday, January 24, 2026, that Sharon Maccanico, a 15-year-old student at Pakūranga College in East Auckland, was one of the six individuals that passed away in the landslides on Mount Maunganui.

Lisa Anne Maclennan, 50, from Morrinsville
Måns Loke Bernhardsson, 20, from Sweden
Jacqualine Suzanne Wheeler, 71, from Rotorua
Susan Doreen Knowles, 71, from Ngongotaha
• Sharon Maccanico, 15, from Auckland
Max Furse-Kee, 15, from Auckland

The college has communicated with the impacted family to offer their sincere condolences.
