Darren Levine, Co-Founder and Chief Instructor of Krav Maga Worldwide Dies

The public was informed of the death of Darren Levine, Co-Founder and Chief Instructor of Krav Maga Worldwide, in the afternoon of January 28, 2026, via the Krav Maga Worldwide Los Angeles Facebook page.

He was a teacher, a leader, and a key figure in the development of Krav Maga as it is practiced today. His impact may be seen in the way Krav Maga is taught, practiced, and comprehended globally.

Under the direction and personal relationship of Imi Lichtenfeld, the Krav Maga's originator in 1981, Darren took the organization to the United States.

He took on the duty of upholding this system's integrity and making sure it continued to be sensible, accountable, and focused on saving lives.

Darren Levine dedicated his life to creating a way for individuals to become stronger, safer, and better able to defend themselves and those they care about. Every aspect of Krav Maga Worldwide and, consequently, KMMD was formed by his ideals, his enthusiasm for this work, and his dedication to practical instruction.

Darren prosecuted violent crimes as a Deputy District Attorney in Los Angeles for many years in addition to his work in Krav Maga. His conviction that self-defense must be taught with discernment, moderation, and accountability—values that still direct our teachers and students—was formed by this encounter.

He led by example with humility, bravery, and an unyielding sense of responsibility because he firmly believed in preserving lives and bolstering communities.

His family, closest friends, and the whole Krav Maga Worldwide community are in our thoughts. Every class taught, every skill acquired, and every individual who chooses to be prepared bear witness to his incalculable legacy.
