Zemfira Mukhtarov, 12, of Brooklyn, and Ebba Morina, 13, of Manhattan, have been identified as the two young girls who were horribly murdered in a Brooklyn subway surfing tragedy.
According to police and sources, they were discovered dazed and unresponsive on top of a J train headed for Brooklyn at the Marcy Avenue-Broadway subway station in Williamsburg at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Saturday.
Five people have been killed by the deadly yet viral craze this year, according to authorities, after both girls passed away at the site.
Before they were discovered on the roof, witnesses informed police that Zemfira and Ebba were running around inside the train with a group of roughly fifteen teenagers.
Inside the station, officers were observed talking to three teenage males before escorting two of them out in a cruiser. However, they continued after the officers had departed.
“With heavy hearts, we are reaching out for support after the tragic loss of my beloved daughter, Zemfira, who passed away in a devastating accident at a subway station,” Zemfira’s father, Ruslan Mukhtarov, posted on a GoFundMe page, meant to help cover funeral and memorial services.
In a tragic event, Zemfira, who was twelve years old and would have been thirteen in only two weeks, was snatched from her loved ones too soon.
According to officials, adolescents have been posting recordings of the blatant behavior on social media, which has contributed to an increase in subway surfing pranks in recent years. Five people lost their lives in the risky acts in 2023, and six people lost their lives during subway surfing in 2024.
It is urged that parents talk their kids out of the dangerous trend that is largely taking idols' lives in New York City.
Further information will be made public.
