On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, a GoFundMe was established to help the Kennedy family earn money to cover the cost of returning their brother Gunnar Kennedy, who was discovered dead after going missing during a walk in the Slovenian Alps.
Kennedy, a third-year University of Virginia engineering student, vanished while on a weekend mountain climbing excursion in Slovenia.
At the time, he was last saw at top Mount Triglav. Since investigators are currently taking the required steps to determine what actually happened, the cause of his death has not yet been determined.
Family relatives say that on Saturday, October 4, 2025, he was last contacted.
Prior to his unthinkable demise, he had attended St. Louis University in Madrid, Spain, for a year to study computer engineering.
He allegedly came up with the idea with his three SLU pals, flew from Italy, and rode a bus to the mountain. While his other buddies went on a simpler hike, Gunnar was undertaking the most difficult one, which would take two days.
Days went by after his buddies left for Spain, and Gunnar was nowhere to be seen. Although a missing person report was filed, his family and friends were not prepared for the outcome of the hunt for him.
His family is currently in need of public assistance. No matter how small the donation, it will help bring Gunnar home. His family and friends really appreciate your prayers and donations during this difficult time.
