Philadelphia sports legend Harry Donahue, a seasoned KYW Newsradio host and decades-long play-by-play commentator for Temple University men's football and basketball has passed away.
Following a fight with cancer, he died on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the age of 77.
"KYW News radio" claims that Harry was a city broadcast voice for decades, providing citizens with news, traffic, weather, and the crucial snow days on the air.
Harry began working at KYW in 1974 and rose to the position of morning news and sports anchor in 1979. He maintained this position until his retirement in 2014 with a friendly, professional, and distinctive manner.
For 35 years, he was a regular on KYW1060 news radio. During the morning commute, many recall hearing his voice announce the closing numbers of the schools.
For many years, listeners started their days with Harry's steady voice, a reliable friend who encapsulated Philadelphia's spirit and the news.
He was a longstanding supporter of the PGA of America Golf Professionals and the Philadelphia PGA Section. He also hosted the television show Inside Golf on NBC Sports Philadelphia.
He was a passionate golfer who assisted in promoting the Philadelphia PGA Junior Tour, the PGA of America REACH Foundation, the Association, and Union League National.
