Britney Gard, Missing Woman Found Safe on October 8



Britney Gard, 46, who went missing on October 1st after fleeing a house fire, was safely found three and a half miles from her home in a wooded area, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office confirmed on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.


She was being cleared by medical personnel at the time this item was published. They stated that no other information is being released at this time.

Local fire crews responded to a structure fire complaint at Britney Gard's Putnam County residence on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.


After the fire, friends and family tried in vain to get in touch with Ms. Gard. On the evening of Tuesday, September 30, 2025, her family last spoke with her.


In order to find Ms. Gard, a number of federal, state, and local investigative resources were used. In order to thoroughly investigate the wooded areas and standing crop fields around Britney Gard's house, including searching about 75 acres of standing corn row by row, the Civil Air Patrol were also used, they collaborated with the all-volunteer Putnam County Community Emergency Response Team.


The Indiana Department of Natural Resources' conservation officers were also part of the hard work, thoroughly searching the ponds at the house and in the area.

Since the night of the fire, a number of drones from nearby law enforcement and rescue agencies have also been used in the area's search.


The search for Ms. Gard has now ended successfully, and her family and friends are grateful to everyone who helped find her.
