Chase was born on July 24, 1990, and her boyfriend Roy Hernandez announced to the public that she died on June 16, 2026, in Los Angeles from meningitis complications that resulted in organ failure and septic shock.
Earlier this month, Daveigh was hospitalized to a Los Angeles hospital due to malnutrition.
She reportedly developed a blood infection, which resulted in septic problems with her body shutting down. There are still more details to come.
After going through some personal hardships and legal troubles between 2017 and 2019, Daveigh had taken a break from performing in recent years.
Early on, she got her big break in Hollywood. In the popular Disney movie "Lilo & Stitch" from 2002 and the TV series that followed, she provided the voice of Lilo. Additionally, she provided the voice of Chihiro Ogino in the American dub of "Spirited Away."
The voice of Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch and the eerie depiction of Samara in The Ring, which won her an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, made Chase a household name in 2002.
Whether it was laughing with Lilo and Stitch, witnessing the enchantment of Spirited Away, or being scared by Samara coming out of the television, fans are sharing memories of growing up with her work on social media.
Millions of people's childhoods were shaped by her performances, which also had a long-lasting impact on pop culture, animation, and movies.
To assist with funeral costs, her family has started a GoFundMe page. In remembrance of how she brought the purity of Lilo and the horrific presence of Samara to life in the same year, fans have been showering social media with accolades.
She will go down in history as the voice of Lilo in Disney's Lilo & Stitch, where she gave life to one of the most cherished animated characters.
Whichever role people remember the most, one thing is certain: Daveigh Chase's work impacted a whole generation, and her legacy will live on in the stories and characters that so many admirers still treasure.
