Frisco Sledding Accident victim, Gracie Brito dies from injuries

Officials have confirmed, with her family's permission, that Gracie Brito, 16, passed away from injuries she received in a sledding accident on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Lizzy Angle, who was also a part of the incident, was close friends with Brito. That following day, Lizzy passed away in the hospital.

Initial reports stated that a 16-year-old male was driving a Jeep through their neighborhood as the two girls were sledding on a sled. Critical injuries were sustained when the sled hit a curb and then a tree. Authorities said the incident is still being investigated, and the driver has not been made public.

Brito had recently obtained her driver's license.

The loss of these young girls, who were only beginning their wonderful lives, is being mourned by the Frisco community.

Gracie was well-known in her neighborhood as a committed cheerleader and a lively, gregarious student who had a profound effect on everyone in her vicinity. She had a reputation for encouraging others, appreciating collaboration, and having a great deal of compassion for those around her.

Family, friends, and classmates have all been profoundly impacted by her passing.

Gracie's family announces that she is fulfilling her desire to donate her organs, a selfless last gift from a girl who "always wanted to make others smile," as the community honors their good spirits.

The families of Angle and Brito as well as the Wakeland High School students are in our thoughts and prayers.
