On Monday, November 17, Irvin Cortes, an 18-year-old basketball player who was injured in a terrible vehicle accident on Saturday, November 15, 2025, passed away. The news has been verified by the LPD.
Authorities said that Irvin was hit by a car following a collision on Saturday close to MLK Jr. Blvd. and East 10th St.
Irvin was a gifted basketball player who rose to prominence at Willis High School at a relatively young age. Many people who had seen him play adored him.
In May 2025, he completed his first semester at Texas Tech University after graduating from Willis High School.
