The public has been informed that Joshua Kershaw, a 21-year-old British vacationer from Grimsby, Lincolnshire, was tragically discovered dead in his hotel after going missing in Pattaya, Thailand, on January 12, 2026, for about nine days.
His body was found in his Bangkok hotel; a post-mortem study and additional investigation are needed to determine the cause of death.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, his mother Jenny from Wakefield gave the devastating news.
Joshua was last seen on January 12, 2026, in Pattaya, a popular tourist destination in Thailand. His flight from Bangkok was scheduled to depart at 8.30 p.m. local time on January 19 and arrive at London Heathrow at 6.25 a.m. on January 20.
However, it was established that he did not board this flight, which prompted a search, with UK police classifying him as a high-risk missing person.
In the midst of continued consular assistance from the British Embassy, relatives—including his aunt Jade—have described the family as completely saddened and are currently attempting to return his remains to the UK. They would want to express their gratitude to everyone who shared their page, sent messages, made donations, and kept them in their prayers and thoughts throughout this extremely trying time.
All of the money received will now be used to transport Joshua home and pay for his funeral so that he can be buried there with his loved ones.
As his family mourns and attempts to process this devastating news, keep them in your thoughts.
