On Friday afternoon, October 3, 2025, a juvenile guy was shot close to High Point High School on the 3400 block of Powder Mill Road in Beltsville. His injury is "serious but non-life threatening," according to the police.
Due to extreme caution, High Point High School is currently under lockdown.
The school had been under lockdown for more than an hour at the time this post was published.
"Does anyone know why High Point High School has been in lockdown for the past 30 minutes? Someone close to me is an employee there and they haven't been told anything but are seeing helicopters outside."
The lockdown at High Point High School was lifted at 2:50 pm on the same day.
According to school officials, the incident did not take place on school property. The suspect is being sought after.
Traffic is still not allowed on Powder Mill Road and Cherry Hill Road near High Point High School as of 2:59 p.m. It is recommended that local residents obey police orders.
Since the culprit has not yet been caught, the investigation is still underway.
