Bryan Farrell, 38, has been taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and interfering with a body in relation to the death of Samuel Bird.
The body of 14-year-old Samuel Bird was discovered in a rural area outside of Edmonton on the evening of June 1, 2025, after he had left home to see a friend in the Canora neighborhood of west Edmonton.
At the time he was declared missing by authorities, his family, neighbors, and law enforcement launched a huge search for him.
Farrell's arrest confirms that he is the primary suspect in the case, and investigators said they are not looking for any other suspects.
Numerous other accusations, including aggravated assault, arson, assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, and making threats, one of which included Samuel's family, have been brought against Farrell, according to police.
You may assist them during this terrible time and provide space for their grief, but no words can take away the anguish of such an unfathomable loss.
The investigation is still underway, and any additional information will be released as soon as it is verified.
